First Languages First: Mother Tongue-Based
Multilingual Education in the Philippines
Leong Hall, Ateneo De Manila University
With the DepEd Memorandum Order No. 74 institutionalizing mother tongue-based multilingual education (MTB-MLE) in the Philippines, there is a compelling need to discuss the numerous issues surrounding MLE.  The Linguistic Society of the Philippines, in its effort to promote the use of languages in the Philippines, is hosting this two-day conference, in cooperation with the Ateneo de Manila Department of English.  This conference aims to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on the use of the mother tongue in education.
